I should say, that nothing is as relaxing as going for a 15 days vacation with you family. The last 15 days were extremely stress-free and full of joy for me while I was away vacationing. On such a vacation, the time that you get to spend with your family is something that you will cherish for years. The best part is that you get to know each individual in your family much more closely. You are then surprised at the fact that there was so much about your loved ones that you never knew.

If you have yet not got a chance to go out for a vacation, then make up your mind right now and set-off for that relaxing vacation today itself.

It often happens that you decide to go on a vacation and then you are so confused about the destination that you end up wasting lot of precious time only in researching the best location. At times you still end up in a place where you would never have wanted to go with your family. Choosing a destination is always the most difficult of things when you plan your romantic vacations.

The Radio days

This is the transcript of an actual radio conversation of a U.S. naval ship with Canadian authorities off the coast of Newfoundland in October, 1995. Radio conversation released by the Chief of Naval Operations 10-10-95.

Americans: “Please divert your course 15 degrees to the North to avoid a collision.”

Canadians: “Recommend you divert your course 15 degrees to the South to avoid a collision.”

Americans: “This is the Captain of a U.S. Navy ship. I say again, divert your course.”

Canadians: “No. I say again, you divert your course.”

Americans: “This is the aircraft carrier USS Lincoln, the second largest ship in the United States’ Atlantic Fleet! We are accompanied by three destroyers, three cruisers and numerous support vessels! I demand that you change your course 15 degrees North, that’s one-five degrees North, or counter-measures will be undertaken to ensure the safety of this ship!”

Canadians: “This is a lighthouse. Your call.”

The radio was not just a navigation tool. It was the sole medium of entertainment til about a few decades ago. Who knew that the goold old radio would one day be over-shadowed by the ipods and mp3 players. Those were the days of the radio. I still remember the days when there were a huge gathering of people in all nearby tea-stalls, their ears fixed on the ardio for the latest news.

It was when everybody thought that the radio would be dead and buried that it took a new avatar. All of a sudden the lost interest in the radio was back and I often see quite a few cars-owners at traffic intersections still glued to their radio to listen to the latest news at their local radio stations. The radio grew much ahead of the medium-waves and the short-waves, to the FMs and now to the HD radios.

Digital quality is what I sought when I decided to go for a DTH service for my television. And so is the case when I decided I would upgrade my radio to an HD radio. Features like hooking-up my ipod to the Polk iSonic ES2 are just a few of the advancements that makes HD radio a sought after choice. What’s more, I can even connect it to my television to watch video content stored in my ipod. I was surprised when I learnt about the iPod Tagging feature in one of these radios, which could help me tag a song I liked on the radio and add it to my ipod, so that I can buy it later. So who says, Radio is old? Radio can never be old but can only get better with age.

The Dream home

“Why is it that we call that house of ours, The Dream Home?”, The psychology professor asked Peter.

“Sir, it is because, that home is only to be found in your dreams and is never a reality”, pat came the reply from Peter.

To an extent what Peter said is a truth, a truth that a few would agree to. That dream home of ours often is something that we can only dream about. The reason being the fact that there are so many things that we dream, we would do in that house of ours that we often find that we do not have enough money to do all of that. I still remember, when we finally decided that we would build that dream house of ours, I got the first shock when I visited the architect to get the layout of my house designed. When he gave me an estimate of the cost of house including his fees, I was shocked to see the amount of fees he was charging. I wished I could design the house myself.

With the evolution of the internet and internet business, designing your dream house is not so difficult these days. All you have to do is decide what kind of a house your want to go for and select from one of the thousands of House Plans made available by leading designers. Narrowing down your search based on your requirements is all that you have to do.

If what you plan to build is a country house, you would find a number of beautiful Country House Plans. You could be building a ranch, a cottage, a colonial house or, a contemporary house, you have all designs available and that too at 1/4th the charge of the architect’s fees. For that matter, you could even find beautiful log home floor plans, which is what one of my friends decided to go for.

The Story of Addiction

It is not uncommon for us to ridicule addicts. I have often been requesting my friends to send me jokes and funny pictures of alcoholics and other addicts. If you are a non-drinker and have a company which is full of drinkers, then you get to enjoy the most in a drinking party. Observing the behaviors of my friends after they have drunk is what I enjoy which I am in such a party. Often these behaviors become the reason for my jokes.

Having said all this the flip side of this – the horror attached with this addictions cannot be contained in it. We seldom realize it because we do not come across such stories very often. I was shocked recently when one of my friend’s relative died due to an alcohol addiction and I wondered how one can get addicted to it.

Treating an addict is not impossible though it could be difficult. With so many good alcohol rehabilitation centers around, the only difficult task is to identify which is the best. After that you can rest assured that they will take care off the rest.

These centers have excellent drug rehab program as well that cures drug addictions like magic. Addiction to banned and prohibited drugs is even more fatal than alcoholism. The reason for this is because the body has been subjected to constant use of a substance that it shouldn’t have been. Hence the body has to be freed of its dependency on these drugs, which is done by the Drug Detox program that is followed by these centers.

Everything is possible, if you are positive and have the will power to go for it. Let me tell you a joke on positivity.

Once the wife of an alcoholic came to a church and met the priest. She said, “Father, my husband is dying of alcoholism. He is not realizing it. The doctors have advised him not to drink but he doesn’t care. Would you please speak to him?”

The father agreed.

The next day, The man came to meet the priest. The priest took out a glass of alcohol and a packet of live worms. He dropped the live worms into the galss and the worms died instantly and then smiled at the man as if proving a point. He asked the man, “What did you learn, my son?”.

The man replied, “I have understood father?”. The priest was happy. He said, “That is good son. Now what did you understand?”.

The man said, “I understood that drinking alcohol, kills all worms and germs in my stomach like it did in this glass. So I should not quit drinking?”

The Weight Loss Resolution

The New Year resolution for a lot of people is to loose weight. I too, was a part of this club for an year but sometime in January, I quit the resolution. I am sure a lot of you too would have done it.

One of the best jokes, you would have heard quite often is based on obese people. They become a reason for us to smile for a few minutes but the agony that they go through cannot be understood by none amongst the ones laughing at them. Weight loss is not just a new year resolution for them, it is a goal of life.

I have seen many who are on a weight loss plan, being dependent on diet pills. These diet pills could be harmful if you do not procure it through a safe prescription. In addition to using these diet pills one also needs to take care of quite a few things, which only a certfied prescriber can let your now. The most commpnly used of these are Acomplia and Reductil. These are prescription medicines and one has to be careful before using them because it is not meant for anybody and everybody. While Accomplia targets the endocannabinoid system which is responsible for regulating energy consumption and expenditure, Reductil acts on certain neurotransmitters.

It is said that it is difficult to make people laugh, but it is even difficult to be a reason for people to laugh. But one needs to be cautious that you do not become the laughing stock.

I would want to call this century the era of Hair Styles. The different varieties of hairstyles that one would see is something that you would not have seen a couple of decades back. But what is also notable is the fact that some of these hairstyles that were in vogue a few decades back are now back in style again.

A hair style that suits you makes your face even more attractive. Depending upon your preference of keeping long hair you can find a lot of Long Hairstyles or, if your choice is to maintain short hair you can select from a variety of Short hair styles. How good you look in any of these hair styles depends upon your choice of hairstyle. You should only choose a hairstyle that goes well with your preferences and facial features.

I find some hairstyles very funny because that is not my preference, but there would be others who would like it.

Living on Music

Music can be the best healer. I still have not forgot the times when I took to music just because I had to control my temper. I was loosing my temper very frequently and on everyone for petty things. When I decided i had to overcome this, I went to a natural therapist to learn meditation and he advised me to listen to soft music. It is here that I started spending quite some time on music.

I loved rock initially and had a good collection of rock stars like Motorhead. Then gradually my likes changed and I took to pop and then the change was to country music like that of Jim Reeves and Cliff Richards. But, whatever the music that you enjoy, music provides a certain direction to life. It give you time to relax and live life to the fullest.

Live concerts are another way of spending some quality on yourselves, while relaxing and enjoying music. Keep looking out for live concerts in your areas and for companies sponsoring them so that you can catch hold of the tickets before they sell-off.
